Traditionally, only non-data information products were used to reach researchers and policy makers concerned with food security, climate change and other global challenges. We’re rediscovering that the data providing evidence to scientific knowledge is also instrumental for accelerating impact in society. Making Data available to other researchers ensures that other scientists can build on our work. It reinforces open scientific inquiry and can lead to new, unanticipated discoveries.
This is why CIAT (International Center for Tropical Agriculture) has embraced Open Access and is making its datasets available on the Harvard’s Dataverse platform.
