CIAT and CGIAR

CIAT is part of CGIAR, the world’s largest partnership of agricultural research-for-development organizations. As one its 15 center members, CIAT’s global research feeds into the collective agenda of CGIAR. Our new 2014-2020 strategy was developed to support CGIAR’s Strategy and Results Framework and the priorities set by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our research is tightly aligned with CGIAR’s current portfolio of global research programs.

CIAT leads the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and shares in the coordination of HarvestPlus, which is a major part of the CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health.

CCAFS brings together some of the world’s best researchers in agricultural science, climate science, environmental and social sciences to identify and address the most important interactions, synergies and trade-offs between climate change and agriculture.

CCAFS is led by CIAT. It is a collaboration among all 15 CGIAR research centers and coordinates with the other CGIAR research programs.

HarvestPlus improves nutrition and public health by developing and promoting biofortified food crops that are rich in vitamins and minerals, and providing global leadership on biofortification evidence and technology.

HarvestPlus is part of the CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health (A4NH) and is jointly led by CIAT and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).
